Taiwan’s Tang Chia-Hung: ‘The biggest change after the Olympics is now I have more fans’

Following a successful showing at the 2022 Asian Championships, the Taiwanese men qualified a full team for the 2022 World Championships in Birmingham later this year as expected. Taiwan placed third in team qualifications, trailing Japan by only 0.289 and ahead of South Korea by 0.944.

Olympian Tang Chia-Hung was a major contributor to the Taiwanese team’s success. During qualifications he placed fourth all-around with an 83.600 and slid comfortably into the floor, pommel, and high bar finals.

In an interview with Vamos, Tang reflected upon his Olympic experience and future goals:

“After the Olympic Games, I felt like my biggest change was I got a lot more fans. After the Olympic experience, there were many new directions as well as new rule changes,” Tang said.

“My main advantage is my versatility and large range of skills, like European athletes. When adding difficulty to my routines there should be a balance between consistency and value.”
